Chile Quake Among Most Powerful Ever :
More than 700 killed in Chile quake :
The government reported that around 711 people had been killed and ,000 troops have been deplayed to enforce curfews and quell outbreaks of looting by people desperate for food and water after Saturday's , the earth quake measures as high as 8.8-magnitude quake, among the world's biggest in a century.
The magnitude-8.8 quake was a type called a "megathrust," considered the most powerful earthquake on the planet. Megathrusts occur when one tectonic plate dives beneath another. the quake generated almost 50 gigatons of energy and spread around 250 miles from the epicentre, said U.S. Geological Survey geophysicist Paul Caruso.
Google Launches 'Person Finder' for Chile Quake :
Google launched a person-finder web site after the quake to find and locate the missing ones .The site url is http://chilepersonfinder.appspot.com, allows folks to chose between Spanish or English. it is simple and eazy to use , it has two options "I'm looking for someone " and "I have information about someone " . it will eventually help in reducing stress of the people of chile and would help in finding the lost ones .

Add sound to every task in Windows

To turn on WINDOWS XP DEFAULT SOUND SCHEME :
- SINGLE CLICK ON START MENU
- single click on control panel
- single click on sound , speech and audio device icon
- single click on the sound and audio device icon or { text labelled change the sound scheme)
- make sure you are on the sound tab and locate the scroll menu for sound scheme : select the windows default option and click on apply .
- now window will ask to save your previously stored sound scheme : if you have any then press yes , if there is no previously stored sound scheme then press "NO"
- CAREFULLY LOOK beneath the text labelled "program events"
- you will be able to customize your new sound for every task .

Sachin Tendulkar UNDOUBTEDLY should be given the INDIA’s highest civilian honour as he has given his heart out and served his country for long as 20 years and still going strong .
the question to be asked why he hasn't got the award uptill now . however no one has been awarded BHARAT RATNA for the last 5 years .
Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar, who made his international Test debut against Pakistan in Karachi in 1989 at a short age of 16 is no stranger to awards and is a recipient of several honours.
Tendulkar is a recipient of
Arjuna Award given for accomplished sportsmen(1994) and
Padma Shri in 1999.
Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award, the country’s highest sporting honour, in 1998.
He was also chosen as the Wisden Cricketer of the Year in 1997 while Time magazine named him in November 2006 as one of the Asian heroes.
The state government of INDIA has proposed to set up a museum devoted to Sachin, he said. "The museum will showcase the glorious life and career of the great batsman and will serve as an inspiration to the young generation," Bhujbal said.
if sachin gets this award he would again set a record as he would be the youngest to grab this award .

The Battlefield Extraction Assist Robot (BEAR)
The US defence system i.e. military is asking engineers to come up with designs for a robot that can help the soldiers in the battlefield and ing injured troops, with minimal or no help from outside.
these robots should be design to work in extreme conditions therefore the army wants a robot with strong arms and grippers that can cope with "the large number of body positions and types of locations in which casualties can be found".
robots should be designed to such a extent that they r capable of escorting injured soldeir from the right route without even prior of the local terrain and geography.
These robots are expected to be tested within 5 years of time .
These will definately increase efficiency and stamina of the soldiers in the battlefeild as they would know someone is there who can rescue them without any loss of life .This is the biggest positive aspect that no life is put into danger while rescuing a soldeir .

Acer to launch ultra-thin Calpella notebooks :SUPER THIN

ACER GOES SLIM
Acer is working on a new generation of Intel Calpella platform-based notebooks featuring ultra-thin designs systems sometime during this year . The new notebooks will be based on delayed Intel Calpella chipset, which was released last year in October 2009.reportedly this will be better and very thin.
Wistron will manufacture 13" models while Quanta Computer handles the 14" and 15" models.
Acer is producing these ultra-thin model so much that they could account for up to 40% of Acer’s shipments this year, estimated to be between 13 and 18 million units.as expexted ACER will drop prices of its current ultra-thin notebooks to make them cheaper than Calpella Slim models to separate the two product lines as it could hamper the selling of ultra-thin Calpella notebooks.
The price will be intresting to know , lets hope it is compatible to its features.
this is expected to be the major product for acer in future .

Firefox 3.5.8 Closes Security Holes

Mozilla recently released updates for its Firefox Web browser to minimize the vulnerabilities in the 3.5.x and 3.0.x browser versions.
The Three main critical flaws in the above mention browser (MSFA 2010-01, 2010-02 and 2010-03) all involve memory-related errors that could allow an attacker to run any command on a victim PC without any notice.according to the reports these holes has been fixed in the updated version of the browser recently released Firefox 3.6.

Nintendo DSi XL likely to launch in March

Nintendo is planning to launch the latest updated version of its popular handheld video game , the DSi XL, on March 28 in North America as reported.
The XL will cost approx. $190. It is likely to have two screens like its predecessors, but as the name suggests, the device and screens will be much larger than the currently available versions but the extra screen size will worth it ?we do appreciate the extra room provided and it might come without any comparmises with picture quality .but you'll definitely figure it out when trying to stuff it into an older mode.
The XL is been available in japan for quite sometime .
Nintendo Co. also says it's launching "Super Mario Galaxy 2" for the Wii console on May 23 and "Metroid: Other M" on June 27.

paypal likely to open app store for developer this year where developers can offer their wares, the latest step in the company's multi-pronged strategy to deepen its relationship with external programmers.
Developers will be having big oppurtunity to offer applications to merchant and consumers that PayPal doesn't have the interest or resources to build itself, a PayPal official said Tuesday.
"It could be an invoicing application for a merchant or a 'daily deals' application for consumers," said Osama Bedier, vice president of PayPal's Platform Business Unit and Emerging Technologies.
"We want to help these guys become successful. It's not just a matter of 'here are our tools, go use them.' We have to be where they are and be active in the developer community," he said.
